A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a feasibility study regarding the establishment of a |
|
|
dental school at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center |
|
|
at El Paso. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 61, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 61.0666 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 61.0666. STUDY REGARDING ESTABLISHMENT OF DENTAL |
|
|
SCHOOL; EL PASO. (a) The board shall conduct a study to examine the |
|
|
need for and feasibility of establishing a dental school in El Paso |
|
|
as a component of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. |
|
|
The board shall consult with the board of regents of the Texas Tech |
|
|
University System in conducting the study. |
|
|
(b) Not later than November 1, 2012, the board shall report |
|
|
the results of the study required by this section to the governor, |
|
|
lieutenant governor, speaker of the house of representatives, and |
|
|
presiding officer of each legislative standing committee with |
|
|
primary jurisdiction over higher education. |
|
|
(c) This section expires January 31, 2013. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
