A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to a feasibility study regarding the establishment of a
  dental school at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center
  at El Paso.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 61, Education Code, is
  amended by adding Section 61.0666 to read as follows:
         Sec. 61.0666.  STUDY REGARDING ESTABLISHMENT OF DENTAL
  SCHOOL; EL PASO.  (a)  The board shall conduct a study to examine
  the need for and feasibility of establishing a dental school in El
  Paso as a component of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences
  Center.  The board shall consult with the board of regents of the
  Texas Tech University System in conducting the study.
         (b)  Not later than November 1, 2012, the board shall report
  the results of the study required by this section to the governor,
  lieutenant governor, speaker of the house of representatives, and
  presiding officer of each legislative standing committee with
  primary jurisdiction over higher education.
         (c)  This section expires January 31, 2013.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
