A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to funding the TEXAS grant program at public institutions |
|
|
of higher education. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 56.310, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) An eligible institution may solicit and accept gifts, |
|
|
grants, and donations from any public or private source for the |
|
|
purpose of awarding a TEXAS grant under this subchapter to a person |
|
|
enrolled in the institution. The institution may develop and |
|
|
implement an appropriate process for the naming and sponsoring of |
|
|
an individual grant awarded under this subchapter to a person |
|
|
enrolled in the institution or any gift, grant, or donation |
|
|
received by the institution under this subsection. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
