A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the appeal of an indefinite suspension of a municipal |
|
firefighter or police officer. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 143.120(c), Local Government Code, is |
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
(c) In its decision, the commission shall state whether the |
|
suspended fire fighter or police officer is: |
|
(1) permanently dismissed from the fire or police |
|
department; |
|
(2) temporarily suspended from the department, for a |
|
period not to exceed 90 calendar days; or |
|
(3) restored to the person's former position or status |
|
in the department's classified service. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
