A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the composition of the governing body of certain |
|
|
regional planning commissions. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 391.006, Local Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) If a county participating in a commission has a |
|
|
population of 3.3 million or more, the governing body of the |
|
|
commission must have: |
|
|
(1) two members representing each participating |
|
|
county; and |
|
|
(2) as representatives of each participating |
|
|
municipality: |
|
|
(A) two members; and |
|
|
(B) for a municipality with a population over |
|
|
100,000, an additional representative for each 250,000 population |
|
|
increment. |
|
|
SECTION 2. A regional planning commission to which Section |
|
|
391.006(c), Local Government Code, as added by this Act, applies |
|
|
shall select members of its governing body as required by that |
|
|
section not later than January 1, 2012. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
