A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the administration of certain immunizations or |
|
|
vaccinations by a pharmacist. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 554.052(c-1), Occupations Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(c-1) A pharmacist may administer an influenza vaccination |
|
|
to a patient over seven years of age without an established |
|
|
physician-patient relationship. A pharmacist may administer a |
|
|
vaccination or immunization required by statute or rule to attend a |
|
|
middle or junior high school to a patient who is entering or |
|
|
attending middle or junior high school without establishing a |
|
|
physician-patient relationship. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
