A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the size of paper supplies and filing cabinets that may |
|
|
be purchased by the legislature and legislative agencies. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 2051.021, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
amending Subsection (c) and adding Subsection (d) to read as |
|
|
follows: |
|
|
(c) In this section, "state agency" means a board, |
|
|
commission, department, office, institution, including an |
|
|
institution of higher education as defined by Section 61.003, |
|
|
Education Code, or other agency of the state government. The term |
|
|
includes each house of the legislature and an agency in the |
|
|
legislative branch. |
|
|
(d) Notwithstanding Subsection (a), a house of the |
|
|
legislature or agency in the legislative branch may purchase paper |
|
|
supplies prohibited by that subsection as necessary to provide for |
|
|
the orderly transition to the exclusive use of approved paper |
|
|
supplies for printing official legislative documents. This |
|
|
subsection expires January 1, 2013. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act does not |
|
|
affect: |
|
|
(1) a contract for the purchase of an item entered into |
|
|
before the effective date of this Act; or |
|
|
(2) the use of any item purchased before the effective |
|
|
date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
