A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the provision of emergency services in certain rural |
|
counties using admission fees charged at state parks. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subtitle B, Title 11, Local Government Code, is |
|
amended by adding Chapter 354 to read as follows: |
|
CHAPTER 354. EMERGENCY SERVICES IN RURAL COUNTIES |
|
SUBCHAPTER A. GENERAL PROVISIONS |
|
Sec. 354.001. APPLICABILITY. This chapter applies only to |
|
a county with: |
|
(1) a population of less than 20,000; |
|
(2) a state park; and |
|
(3) an interstate highway. |

SUBCHAPTER B. STATE PARKS |
|
Sec. 354.051. ADMISSION TO PARK; USE OF MONEY FOR EMERGENCY |
|
SERVICES. (a) The Parks and Wildlife Department shall use $1 from |
|
the admission to a state park in the county for the purposes |
|
described by this section. Revenue collected under this section |
|
may be appropriated only to the department to award grants to a |
|
county that provides emergency services that directly or indirectly |
|
benefit the park. |
|
(b) The county shall use the money to pay for emergency |
|
services provided by the county in the county, including emergency |
|
services provided by volunteers. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
