SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Wayne and Eileen Hurd for their many contributions to the
Horseshoe Bay community on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of
Horseshoe Bay Resort and the 20th anniversary of the Seton Gala; and
WHEREAS, Wayne and Eileen Hurd count among the earliest
residents of Horseshoe Bay and have contributed immensely to the
area's development and growth as a community; in a serendipitous
turn of events, Wayne discovered a rusty horseshoe on a dry lake
bottom while he and his cousin Norm were considering Horseshoe Bay
as one of the possible names for the development; and
WHEREAS, Eileen Hurd played an important role in the creation
of the Seton Gala, a fund-raiser and membership drive first held in
1981 by the Horseshoe Bay Associates of the Seton Development Board
  to raise money to enhance the quality of health care in the region;
  and
WHEREAS, Wayne and Eileen Hurd have played a vital role in the
history of Horseshoe Bay, and it is truly fitting that they be
  recognized; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 82nd Legislature of the State of Texas
hereby commend Wayne and Eileen Hurd on their many contributions to
the Horseshoe Bay Resort and community and extend to all its
residents best wishes for a memorable 40th anniversary and a
successful 20th anniversary Seton Gala; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared in honor
  of this special occasion.
