A JOINT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
proposing a constitutional amendment requiring the provision of |
|
|
free textbooks to students attending private primary and secondary |
|
|
schools in this state. |
|
|
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 3(b), Article VII, Texas Constitution, |
|
|
is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(b) It shall be the duty of the State Board of Education to |
|
|
set aside a sufficient amount of available funds to provide free |
|
|
text books for the use of children attending the public free schools |
|
|
and private primary and secondary schools in [of] this State. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be |
|
|
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 8, 2011. |
|
|
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the |
|
|
proposition: "The constitutional amendment requiring the |
|
|
provision of free textbooks to students attending private primary |
|
|
and secondary schools in this state." |
