A JOINT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing an appropriation |
|
|
from the economic stabilization fund for the Foundation School |
|
|
Program. |
|
|
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 49-g, Article III, Texas Constitution, |
|
|
is amended by adding Subsection (p) to read as follows: |
|
|
(p) Notwithstanding any other provision of this section, |
|
|
the legislature may, by a majority vote of the members present in |
|
|
each house, appropriate from the economic stabilization fund not |
|
|
more than $2,000,000,000 to the Texas Education Agency for the |
|
|
Foundation School Program under Chapter 42, Education Code, for the |
|
|
state fiscal year beginning September 1, 2012. An appropriation |
|
|
made by the 82nd Legislature in anticipation of this subsection |
|
|
becoming law is not void due to the appropriation's anticipatory |
|
|
character. This subsection expires September 1, 2013. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be |
|
|
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 8, 2011. |
|
|
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the |
|
|
proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing an |
|
|
appropriation from the economic stabilization fund for the |
|
|
Foundation School Program." |
