SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 4
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Judge Raul Vasquez for his 29 years of exemplary public |
|
|
service; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Currently serving his third term on the bench of |
|
|
the 111th District Court, Judge Vasquez began his judicial career |
|
|
when he was elected as justice of the peace in 1981; he served as |
|
|
a Webb County court at law judge from 1987 to 1998; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A 1972 graduate of Martin High School in Laredo, |
|
|
Judge Vasquez earned his law degree from the University of |
|
|
Houston Law Center; he served on the faculty of the Texas College |
|
|
for New Judges and was a board member of the Texas Center for the |
|
|
Judiciary, Incorporated; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Judge Vasquez is active in numerous professional |
|
|
and community organizations; he has served as chairman of the |
|
|
board of the Webb County Community Supervision and Corrections |
|
|
Department and the Webb County Auditor's Department; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Judge Vasquez is committed to helping troubled |
|
|
and disadvantaged youths and is a founding member of several |
|
|
organizations dedicated to helping them, including the Laredo |
|
|
Youth Conference and the Children's Coalition; he has received |
|
|
many awards for his service, including the Crime Stoppers Alfa |
|
|
Award and the League of United Latin American Citizens Tejano |
|
|
Achiever Award; he is truly deserving of recognition for his many |
|
|
contributions to his profession and his community; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Judge Raul Vasquez on his 29 years of |
|
|
outstanding public service and extend to him best wishes for |
|
|
continued success in all his future endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
