SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 4
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Judge Raul Vasquez for his 29 years of exemplary public
  service; and
         WHEREAS, Currently serving his third term on the bench of
  the 111th District Court, Judge Vasquez began his judicial career
  when he was elected as justice of the peace in 1981; he served as
  a Webb County court at law judge from 1987 to 1998; and
         WHEREAS, A 1972 graduate of Martin High School in Laredo,
  Judge Vasquez earned his law degree from the University of
  Houston Law Center; he served on the faculty of the Texas College
  for New Judges and was a board member of the Texas Center for the
  Judiciary, Incorporated; and
         WHEREAS, Judge Vasquez is active in numerous professional
  and community organizations; he has served as chairman of the
  board of the Webb County Community Supervision and Corrections
  Department and the Webb County Auditor's Department; and
         WHEREAS, Judge Vasquez is committed to helping troubled
  and disadvantaged youths and is a founding member of several
  organizations dedicated to helping them, including the Laredo
  Youth Conference and the Children's Coalition; he has received
  many awards for his service, including the Crime Stoppers Alfa
  Award and the League of United Latin American Citizens Tejano
  Achiever Award; he is truly deserving of recognition for his many
  contributions to his profession and his community; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Judge Raul Vasquez on his 29 years of
  outstanding public service and extend to him best wishes for
  continued success in all his future endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
