SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 7

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Canterbury Episcopal School Lady Cougars volleyball team, which won the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools 2A state championship title on November 6, 2010; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Cougars won their first state championship since 2005 by defeating Shiner Saint Paul in four sets with scores of 25-13, 25-15, 24-26, and 25-17; and

WHEREAS, These young athletes have demonstrated great talent and perseverance throughout the year, ending the season with a perfect 21-0 record in best-of-five matches and an overall game record of 108-15; team members can take great pride in their outstanding performance; and

WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of head coach Scott Vaughan and with the assistance of coaches Jeff Ellis and Kim Shelton, the Lady Cougars have developed exceptional teamwork and discipline; and

WHEREAS, Canterbury Episcopal School and the citizens of Desoto are proud of the Lady Cougars for their hard work, their impressive skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend the Canterbury Episcopal School Lady Cougars on their outstanding season and extend congratulations to them on winning the 2010 Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools 2A volleyball state championship title; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
