SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 7
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
recognize the Canterbury Episcopal School Lady Cougars |
|
volleyball team, which won the Texas Association of Private and |
|
Parochial Schools 2A state championship title on November 6, |
|
2010; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Lady Cougars won their first state |
|
championship since 2005 by defeating Shiner Saint Paul in four |
|
sets with scores of 25-13, 25-15, 24-26, and 25-17; and |
|
WHEREAS, These young athletes have demonstrated great |
|
talent and perseverance throughout the year, ending the season |
|
with a perfect 21-0 record in best-of-five matches and an overall |
|
game record of 108-15; team members can take great pride in their |
|
outstanding performance; and |
|
WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of |
|
head coach Scott Vaughan and with the assistance of coaches Jeff |
|
Ellis and Kim Shelton, the Lady Cougars have developed |
|
exceptional teamwork and discipline; and |
|
WHEREAS, Canterbury Episcopal School and the citizens of |
|
Desoto are proud of the Lady Cougars for their hard work, their |
|
impressive skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
Legislature, hereby commend the Canterbury Episcopal School Lady |
|
Cougars on their outstanding season and extend congratulations |
|
to them on winning the 2010 Texas Association of Private and |
|
Parochial Schools 2A volleyball state championship title; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
the team as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
