Sharon Sternes |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
|
citizens of DeSoto in mourning the loss of Sharon Sternes, who |
|
|
died January 7, 2011; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sharon Sternes was an exemplary citizen whose |
|
|
commitment to public education has served as an inspiration to |
|
|
all who have had the privilege of knowing her; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Sternes was a graduate of Texas Tech |
|
|
University and went on to earn a master's degree from Texas |
|
|
Woman's University; she was president of the board of trustees of |
|
|
the DeSoto Independent School District and had served on the |
|
|
board since 2002; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dedicated to excellence in education for all |
|
|
children, Mrs. Sternes was a life member of the Parent Teacher |
|
|
Association and was a Certified Family Life Educator; she |
|
|
received numerous awards over the course of her career, including |
|
|
the President's Award from the Society of Government Meeting |
|
|
Professionals and the Community Service Award from the Concerned |
|
|
DeSoto Citizens; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion, she |
|
|
gave generously to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and valued |
|
|
counsel will not be forgotten by those who shared in her life; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, She was married to the late Kenneth Sternes and |
|
|
raised two sons, Rainey and Ryan; a devoted wife and mother, she |
|
|
leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her |
|
|
family and many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Sharon Sternes; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Sharon Sternes. |
