SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 39
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize East Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Houston on the
  grand occasion of its 85th anniversary, which is being celebrated
  February 13, 2011; and
         WHEREAS, The church was founded by a group of believers in
  1926, and services were held at Kemper's Hall on Dowling Street
  until an edifice was erected on Live Oak Street in 1929; and
         WHEREAS, Over the last 85 years, the church has ministered
  faithfully to the needs of the citizens of Houston, and due to the
  guidance and wise stewardship of its pastors over the years and
  the leadership of its current pastor, the Reverend Ronald K.
  Mouton, Sr., the church continues to thrive and now has 19
  ministries; and
         WHEREAS, The church has consistently served as an
  invaluable source of strength to its members during their
  hardships and in difficult times; and
         WHEREAS, The observance of the church's 85th anniversary is
  an opportunity to celebrate its contributions to area citizens
  and pay tribute to the inspiration that its ministry provides the
  community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the clergy and members
  of East Bethel Missionary Baptist Church on the joyous occasion
  of its 85th anniversary; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the church as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
