SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 61
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Maria Rosa Pena
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Maria Rosa Pena,
  who died January 10, 2011; and
         WHEREAS, Born Maria Rosa Chavez on October 28, 1943,
  Mrs. Pena enriched all who knew her with her kindness and her
  enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; and
         WHEREAS, She was a proud graduate of South San Antonio High
  School, and she enjoyed a fulfilling career as co-owner of the
  Don Roman retail store in the historic Market Square center in
  San Antonio for some 35 years; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of great strength, courage, and
  compassion, she gave unselfishly to others, and her wisdom,
  vitality, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who
  knew her; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Pena was devoted to her family, and she will
  long be remembered for her generous spirit and her kind nature;
  and
         WHEREAS, A loving wife of 45 years, Mrs. Pena is survived
  by her husband, Roman Pena; her sons, Gregory, Michael, and
  Gabriel; her daughter, Lucinda; her sisters, Enriqueta, Paula,
  and Mercy; her brothers, Gregory, Jorje, and Jesse; and her
  grandchildren, Valerie, Vincent, and Logan; and
         WHEREAS, Maria Rosa Pena will forever hold a treasured
  place in the hearts of all who were blessed to share in her love
  and affection; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Maria Rosa Pena; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Maria Rosa Pena.
