SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 62
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Glenn Ratliff on the grand occasion of his 100th
  birthday; and
         WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman is well known for
  his wisdom and generosity of spirit, and he is a respected and
  admired resident of Monahans; and
         WHEREAS, Glenn Lafayette Ratliff was born January 30,
  1911, in Coppell; he married Ophelia Wood on June 7, 1938, and the
  couple was blessed with four sons, Adair, John, Joe, and Dan, who
  have been a source of much pride and joy; and
         WHEREAS, A 1933 graduate of Baylor University, Mr. Ratliff
  supported the war effort during World War II by working for the
  Federal Bureau of Investigation; following the war, he returned
  to Monahans and resumed his career in the real estate and
  insurance industries; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Ratliff played an important role in the area's
  growth as an owner of the Monahans Development Company and as a
  founding stockholder of the First National Bank of Monahans;
  along with one of his sons, he developed the Pecan Plaza Shopping
  Center, which serves local citizens and travelers alike; and
         WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practices his faith in his
  daily life, he is a member of First Baptist Church, where he has
  served faithfully as a deacon and behind-the-scenes leader; and
         WHEREAS, A beloved and cherished member of his community,
  he is noted for his courage, his compassion for others, and his
  enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby recognize Glenn Ratliff as a treasured
  citizen of Monahans and our state and extend to him best wishes
  for a memorable 100th birthday; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
