SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 71
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
join Texans across the state in celebrating January 30 through |
|
February 5, 2011, as Catholic Schools Week; and |
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the National Catholic Educational |
|
Association and the United States Conference of Catholic |
|
Bishops, Catholic Schools Week serves to highlight the vital |
|
contributions made by the thousands of Catholic schools across |
|
the nation; and |
|
WHEREAS, Catholic schools in the United States have earned |
|
international acclaim for achieving academic excellence while |
|
promoting strong values; they offer a rigorous curriculum that |
|
emphasizes the lifelong development of moral, intellectual, |
|
physical, and social values; and |
|
WHEREAS, Catholic schools foster an intellectually |
|
stimulating environment in which 95 percent of students |
|
graduate, and 83 percent of Catholic high school graduates go on |
|
to attend college; and |
|
WHEREAS, America's Catholic schools are truly deserving of |
|
recognition for the significant role they play in promoting and |
|
ensuring a brighter, stronger future for our state and nation; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
Legislature, hereby commend the students, teachers, and |
|
administrators of Catholic schools for their many contributions |
|
to our nation's educational system and extend to them best wishes |
|
for a memorable Catholic Schools Week; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|
honor of this special event. |
