SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 81
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join the citizens of Arlington and Texans across the state in
  celebrating January 26, 2011, as Arlington to Austin Day; and
         WHEREAS, Named in honor of General Robert E. Lee's hometown
  in Virginia, Arlington is located midway between Dallas and Fort
  Worth and boasts a population of more than 365,000, making it one
  of the 50 most populous cities in the nation; and
         WHEREAS, Arlington welcomes more than 6.5 million visitors
  each year to such attractions as Six Flags Over Texas, the Texas
  Rangers, and the Dallas Cowboys; the city is hosting the 2011
  Super Bowl, which is expected to draw more than 100,000 fans; and
         WHEREAS, The University of Texas at Arlington is a highly
  regarded research institution with a current all-time high
  enrollment of nearly 33,000 students; it offers nearly 190
  bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in an extensive range
  of disciplines; and
         WHEREAS, Arlington to Austin is a coalition of business,
  educational, and government leaders led by the Arlington Chamber
  of Commerce; the coalition travels to Austin during the
  legislative session to strengthen relationships with state
  agencies and elected and appointed officials; and
         WHEREAS, It is truly fitting that Arlington be recognized
  for its countless contributions to the culture and the economy of
  North Texas and our state; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby welcome the delegation from Arlington to the
  State Capitol and extend to them best wishes for a successful and
  memorable Arlington to Austin Day; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
  honor of this special day.
