SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 146
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join the citizens of Howard County and Texans across the state in
  celebrating February 9, 2011, as Howard County Day at the State
  Capitol; and
 
         WHEREAS, A regional hub for health care, quality
  education, and job opportunities, Howard County offers an
  outstanding quality of life to its residents; and
 
         WHEREAS, Howard County is blessed with abundant reserves
  of oil and gas, and with the creation of four wind turbine farms
  it stands poised to remain a leader in the production of energy in
  Texas; and
 
         WHEREAS, Recognizing their bright future, the people of
  the county seat of Big Spring have approved bonds for
  infrastructure improvements and created a Downtown Historic
  District to provide incentives for redevelopment; restoration is
  already underway on the historic Settles Hotel, and
  McMahon-Wrinkle Airport is undergoing expansion; and
 
         WHEREAS, The people of Howard County are its most valuable
  resource, and their cooperative spirit, generosity, and warmth
  make it an exceptional place in which to live, work, and raise a
  family; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Howard County on
  their many outstanding contributions to the rich legacy of our
  state and extend to them best wishes for a memorable Howard
  County Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
