SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 150
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Tura Stephens Hobbs on the joyous occasion of her 100th
  birthday, on February 4, 2011; and
 
         WHEREAS, Tura Stephens was born in Shelby County on
  February 4, 1911; she moved with her family to Austin when she
  was in the fourth grade; she served as a schoolteacher after
  earning a teaching certificate at the University of Mary
  Hardin-Baylor; and
 
         WHEREAS, Tura married Carl A. Hobbs, and the couple was
  blessed with three daughters, Terry, Patsy, and Christy, and four
  grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Hobbs was dedicated to her work as a
  homemaker, and she was an active member of First Baptist Church
  of Austin, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the
  choir; and
 
         WHEREAS, Today, Mrs. Hobbs enjoys singing old hymns,
  playing dominoes, and spending time with family and friends;
  she is noted for her spirited nature, her generosity, and her
  enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; now, therefore,
  be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby recognize Tura Stephens Hobbs as a treasured
  citizen of our state and extend to her congratulations on the
  occasion of her 100th birthday; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in her
  honor as an expression of regard from the Texas Senate.
