SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 154
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join the students, faculty, staff, and alumni of Jack Yates High
  School in celebrating its 85th anniversary; and
 
         WHEREAS, This exemplary educational institution has served
  the people of Houston with distinction through the years, working
  to give its students the tools they need to succeed and thrive in
  an ever-changing world; and
 
         WHEREAS, Since the founding of Jack Yates High School,
  generations of students have graduated and gone on to make their
  mark in the world, reflecting great credit upon their school and
  their community, and those who are gathering at the school for
  the grand anniversary event being held on February 8, 2011, can
  take pride in celebrating 85 years of service, tradition, pride,
  and excellence; and
 
         WHEREAS, It is truly fitting that Jack Yates High School be
  recognized for its legacy of dedication to educational excellence;
  now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby recognize Jack Yates High School as an integral
  part of the Houston community and extend to its students, faculty,
  staff, and alumni best wishes for a memorable 85th anniversary
  celebration; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the school as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
