SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 159
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Jack Walker
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Jack Walker, who died June 4, 2004; and
         WHEREAS, Jack Walker was an exemplary citizen who was widely
  admired in the Dallas community for his many achievements; and
         WHEREAS, Jack Walker was born July 1, 1913; he grew up in
  Longview before joining the United States Army and serving with
  distinction as a sergeant during World War II, winning numerous
  commendations and medals; and
         WHEREAS, After the war, Mr. Walker graduated from a leading
  culinary school in Dallas and embarked on a long and productive
  career as a chef; he worked for many years at Southern Methodist
  University as a kitchen manager; and
         WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and determination, he
  gave generously to others, and his patriotism, devotion to duty,
  and cheerful nature will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
         WHEREAS, He was a loving husband and father, and he leaves
  behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and
  many friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the family and
  friends of Jack Walker; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Jack Walker.
