SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 159

Jack Walker |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
commemorates the life of Jack Walker, who died June 4, 2004; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jack Walker was an exemplary citizen who was widely |
|
admired in the Dallas community for his many achievements; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jack Walker was born July 1, 1913; he grew up in |
|
Longview before joining the United States Army and serving with |
|
distinction as a sergeant during World War II, winning numerous |
|
commendations and medals; and |
|
WHEREAS, After the war, Mr. Walker graduated from a leading |
|
culinary school in Dallas and embarked on a long and productive |
|
career as a chef; he worked for many years at Southern Methodist |
|
University as a kitchen manager; and |
|
WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and determination, he |
|
gave generously to others, and his patriotism, devotion to duty, |
|
and cheerful nature will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and |
|
WHEREAS, He was a loving husband and father, and he leaves |
|
behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and |
|
many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the family and |
|
friends of Jack Walker; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Jack Walker. |
