SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 193
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Boys and Girls Clubs of Laredo for their
  outstanding efforts in preparing the young people of today for
  the leadership roles of tomorrow; and
         WHEREAS, Established July 4, 1946, the Boys and Girls Clubs
  of Laredo have for more than 60 years provided a structured
  environment where a foundation of values and a sense of
  self-reliance and self-esteem can be developed among young
  people from all walks of life; and
         WHEREAS, This exceptional organization has four clubs in
  Laredo, offering a wide range of activities and facilities, from
  gymnasiums and swimming pools to classrooms and libraries; the
  Boys and Girls Clubs of Laredo nurture members' innate abilities
  through supervised educational and social learning experiences;
  and
         WHEREAS, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Laredo serve more than
  35,000 young people annually, working to build in their members a
  history of success that creates self-confidence; the clubs also
  promote community service, fitness and good health, and personal
  initiative and responsibility; and
         WHEREAS, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Laredo have played a
  vital role in the lives of countless young people, and they are
  truly deserving of recognition for their many contributions to
  the community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend the Boys and Girls Clubs of Laredo
  for their legacy of helping young people become productive
  members of society and extend best wishes for continued success
  in carrying out their important mission; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the Boys and Girls Clubs of Laredo as an expression of high regard
  from the Texas Senate.
