SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 194
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Omar Soltero
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
  of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Specialist Omar Soltero, who
  died January 31, 2011, at the age of 28, while serving his country
  as a member of the United States Army in Afghanistan; and
         WHEREAS, Specialist Soltero was an exemplary soldier who
  was admired and respected for his courage and dedication to duty;
  he was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, 4th
  Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, based at Fort Polk,
  Louisiana; and
         WHEREAS, He had looked forward to serving the nation in the
  armed forces since he was a young child; he was proud to serve his
  country, and he leaves behind a legacy of bravery and fidelity
  that will be remembered by all those who had the privilege of
  sharing in his life; and
         WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have young
  men and women whose love of country inspires them to take up
  military service; Specialist Soltero embodied the highest ideals
  of the United States Army; and
         WHEREAS, A young man of courage, strength, and loyalty, he
  served with honor and distinction, and he leaves behind memories
  that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Omar Soltero; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,
  and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
  Omar Soltero.
