SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 194

In Memory |

Omar Soltero |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens |
|
|
of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Specialist Omar Soltero, who |
|
|
died January 31, 2011, at the age of 28, while serving his country |
|
|
as a member of the United States Army in Afghanistan; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Specialist Soltero was an exemplary soldier who |
|
|
was admired and respected for his courage and dedication to duty; |
|
|
he was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, 4th |
|
|
Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, based at Fort Polk, |
|
|
Louisiana; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He had looked forward to serving the nation in the |
|
|
armed forces since he was a young child; he was proud to serve his |
|
|
country, and he leaves behind a legacy of bravery and fidelity |
|
|
that will be remembered by all those who had the privilege of |
|
|
sharing in his life; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have young |
|
|
men and women whose love of country inspires them to take up |
|
|
military service; Specialist Soltero embodied the highest ideals |
|
|
of the United States Army; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A young man of courage, strength, and loyalty, he |
|
|
served with honor and distinction, and he leaves behind memories |
|
|
that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Omar Soltero; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, |
|
|
and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of |
|
|
Omar Soltero. |
