SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 215
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Fire Marshal Richard Lee Drewry, who is retiring after
  more than 40 years of outstanding service with the Edinburg
  Volunteer Fire Department; and
         WHEREAS, Fire Marshal Drewry joined the Edinburg Volunteer
  Fire Department in 1970, following a longstanding family
  tradition of serving as a firefighter; he combined his love of
  fighting fires with his desire to serve in law enforcement by
  becoming an arson investigator; and
         WHEREAS, Under his expert leadership, the Fire Marshal's
  Office of the Edinburg Volunteer Fire Department has become a
  highly respected organization, working diligently to inform the
  public about issues of fire safety and developing effective fire
  prevention programs; and
         WHEREAS, Fire Marshal Drewry has been cited numerous times
  for bravery over the course of his career; he holds a master peace
  officer license and numerous advanced certifications, including
  as a fire inspector, arson investigator, and volunteer
  firefighter, and he is noted for serving as a mentor to others,
  passing on his advanced knowledge of fire codes and fire
  prevention; and
         WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, he is respected and
  admired by his colleagues and citizens alike, and his presence at
  the Edinburg Volunteer Fire Department will be greatly missed;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Richard Lee Drewry on his
  exceptional service to the people of Edinburg as fire marshal for
  the Edinburg Volunteer Fire Department and extend to him best
  wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
