SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 229

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Lou Spiegel, who is retiring in June of 2011 after 15 years of outstanding service with the Mansfield Independent School District; and

WHEREAS, A veteran of 27 years in public education, Lou Spiegel has advanced to the position of associate superintendent for business and governmental relations; throughout her career, she has been noted for her sound fiscal judgment and her superior skills in managing the challenges of fast-paced growth in the face of decreases in state funding; and

WHEREAS, Blessed with the rare gift of the ability to make sense of school finance, she has handled her many responsibilities, including guiding the district through multiple bond elections, with exceptional skill and dedication; and

WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, she is respected and admired by her colleagues, and her presence at the Mansfield Independent School District will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Lou Spiegel on her exceptional service to the citizens of Mansfield as associate superintendent for business and governmental relations for the Mansfield Independent School District and extend to her best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
