Rudolph Taylor Monsalvo |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
|
citizens of Bexar County and Atascosa County in mourning the loss |
|
|
of Rudolph Taylor Monsalvo, who died January 27, 2011, at the age |
|
|
of 73; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born August 1, 1937, in San Antonio, Rudy Monsalvo |
|
|
graduated from the Texas Military Institute in 1955; he continued |
|
|
his education at Baylor University, Saint Mary's University, and |
|
|
Saint Mary's College of Law; he served in the United States Coast |
|
|
Guard in 1960; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He was licensed to practice law before the United |
|
|
States District Courts for the Western District of Texas, and he |
|
|
served as a criminal defense attorney; he was an old-fashioned |
|
|
trial lawyer whose successful legal career spanned more than four |
|
|
decades; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to his love of the law, he was a |
|
|
rancher and farmer who had a passion for growing watermelons and |
|
|
strawberries on his farm in Atascosa County; he also had a deep |
|
|
love of family and was married to his sweetheart, Susan Qualls, |
|
|
for 41 years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Rudy was respected in his |
|
|
community for his generous and friendly nature and for his many |
|
|
accomplishments; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Rudy Monsalvo gave unselfishly of his time to |
|
|
others and was beloved by many, and he leaves behind memories |
|
|
that will be cherished forever by all who were privileged to |
|
|
share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Rudolph Taylor Monsalvo: his loving wife, Susan Qualls |
|
|
Monsalvo; his daughters, Susan Taylor and Sherie Ann; and his |
|
|
four grandchildren; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy |
|
|
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this |
|
|
day, it do so in memory of Rudy Monsalvo. |
