SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 259
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join the members of the Texas FFA Association and Texans across
  the state in celebrating February 22, 2011, as Texas FFA Day at
  the Capitol; and
 
         WHEREAS, Held in conjunction with National FFA Week, Texas
  FFA Day at the Capitol celebrates the many contributions this
  exceptional organization has made to agricultural education
  across our state and nation; and
 
         WHEREAS, With more than 80,000 members, the Texas FFA
  Association is the largest organization of its kind in the
  country; members are led by an elected group of state officers
  who each represent one of the 10 FFA areas in the state; and
 
         WHEREAS, The Texas FFA Association presents more than $2
  million in academic and award scholarships to deserving members
  each year; and
 
         WHEREAS, More than 112,000 students are enrolled in
  agricultural education courses in Texas, and the Texas FFA
  Association plays an important role in helping them achieve
  success; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby welcome the members, advisors, and guests of
  the Texas FFA Association and extend to them best wishes for a
  memorable Texas FFA Day at the Capitol; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
  honor of this special day.
