SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 262

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join the members of Texas Farm Bureau District Three and Texans across the state in celebrating Texas Farm Bureau Day at the State Capitol; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 1933, the Texas Farm Bureau is one of the largest groups of farmers, ranchers, and rural families in the world; it is committed to the principle of grassroots policy development, with ideas originating at the member level before being proposed and enacted in the legislative arena; and

WHEREAS, District Three encompasses Archer, Baylor, Clay, Cottle, Foard, Hardeman, Haskell, Jack, Kent, King, Knox, Montague, Stonewall, Throckmorton, Wichita, Wilbarger, Wise, and Young Counties; it is home to 11,266 farms covering 8.6 million acres and is a leading producer of numerous crops and livestock, notably wheat and cattle; and

WHEREAS, The Texas Farm Bureau has played a vital role in representing agricultural interests at the local, state, and national levels, and it is truly fitting that a day be set aside to acknowledge its members' hard work and dedication; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Texas Farm Bureau on their many contributions to the wealth and prosperity of our state and extend to them best wishes for a memorable Texas Farm Bureau Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this exemplary organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
