SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 283

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join the Shriners of North America, the International House of Pancakes, and Texans across the state in celebrating March 1, 2011, as National Pancake Day; and

WHEREAS, National Pancake Day has become an important method to raise funds for the Shriners Hospitals for Children, a unique international health care system of hospitals dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing pediatric specialty care, innovative research, and outstanding teaching programs; and

WHEREAS, Shriners of North America is an international fraternity based on the Masonic principles of brotherly love, relief, and truth; the Shriners Hospitals for Children provide exceptional care at no charge to children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate; and

WHEREAS, International House of Pancakes will on this special day offer its guests a free short stack of pancakes and appeal to them for a donation to the Shriners Hospitals for Children; it is truly fitting that these outstanding organizations be recognized for their compassionate efforts in helping young children; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend the Shriners of North America and International House of Pancakes on their commitment to helping the most vulnerable among us and extend to them best wishes for a successful and memorable National Pancake Day; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of this special day.
