SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 285

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Phillip Baker, who was recently selected for a Liberty Mutual Firemark Award by Liberty Mutual Insurance; and

WHEREAS, A member of Mansfield Fire and Rescue, Phillip Baker has had a successful 10-year career in the field of fire prevention; the creator of the Mansfield Fire Department Clown Program, he has served the citizens of Mansfield by volunteering his time to teach fire prevention and safety in the local schools; and

WHEREAS, Phillip participates in community events by performing as Res-Q the Clown, and through humor and entertainment and various educational programs, he accomplishes his mission of putting out fires before they start; and

WHEREAS, The Liberty Mutual Firemark Award is presented annually to firefighters throughout the country who best represent their communities through courageous acts and who best demonstrate the firefighter's selfless spirit through community service and public education; as an award winner, Phillip is now eligible to be considered for a 2010 Liberty Mutual National Firemark Award; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Phillip Baker on his outstanding community service as a firefighter and extend to him congratulations on earning the Liberty Mutual Firemark Award; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
