SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 307
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Mildred H. Burnett on the grand occasion of her 100th
  birthday; and
         WHEREAS, This gracious lady is well known for her charm and
  generosity of spirit, and she is a revered resident of Fannin
  County; and
         WHEREAS, Mildred H. Burnett was born March 11, 1911, at
  Prairie Point Community in Fannin County; she graduated from
  Windom High School in 1929 and attended East Texas State Teachers
  College before embarking on a 39-year career as an educator; and
         WHEREAS, She married Noel Y. Burnett in 1934, and the couple
  enjoyed more than 50 years of marriage; they raised a son, Lanny Joe
  Burnett, who has been a source of much pride and joy; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Burnett is a devout Christian and lifelong
  Southern Baptist who practices her faith in her daily life; she
  has taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school for more than
  50 years; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of her long and rich life, she has
  borne witness to a century of momentous events; from the early
  days of radio to the emergence of the Internet, from biplanes to
  moon landings, through two world wars and 18 presidential
  administrations, she has shared her strength, her compassion,
  and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby recognize Mildred H. Burnett as a treasured
  citizen of our state and extend to her best wishes for a memorable
  100th birthday; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
