SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 314
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Haltom City Public Library on the occasion of its
  golden anniversary; and
 
         WHEREAS, Established in 1961, the Haltom City Public
  Library has grown considerably since its inception, and the
  library is now in its fourth location; and
 
         WHEREAS, Over the last 50 years, the size of the library's
  collection has grown from 4,000 to 115,000; the library now
  boasts a computerized self-checkout system, a Java Joe's Coffee
  Depot, and an online public access catalog; and
 
         WHEREAS, Events, services, and classes offered by the
  library now include homebound services, computer instruction
  classes, job interviewing classes, author readings, puppet
  shows, movies, and art exhibits; and
 
         WHEREAS, The library offers the citizens of Haltom City a
  wealth of books, magazines, and newspapers and provides them with
  opportunities to enhance their knowledge, education, careers,
  and quality of life; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend all associated with the Haltom City
  Public Library for supporting the valuable service it provides to
  the residents of Haltom City and extend to all congratulations on
  the occasion of the library's 50th anniversary; and, be it
  further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
  honor of the Haltom City Public Library.
