SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 351
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize March 3, 2011, as Texas Association of Black Personnel |
|
|
in Higher Education Day; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Texas Association of Black Personnel in |
|
|
Higher Education was established in 1973 to promote, maintain, |
|
|
and assure the participation of black citizens in the realm of |
|
|
higher education; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The organization represents over 1,000 black |
|
|
faculty members, staff members, and administrators of Texas |
|
|
colleges and universities and serves as a strong advocate for |
|
|
ethnic minorities in the educational process; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The association is hosting a conference March 3 |
|
|
through 5 entitled "The Power of Change II: Celebrating the |
|
|
Progress" and commencing with a visit to the Capitol; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
| |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Texas Association |
|
|
of Black Personnel in Higher Education on their dedication to the |
|
|
promotion of leadership and participation by ethnic minorities |
|
|
in the field of higher education and extend appreciation to them |
|
|
for their many contributions to this state on Texas Association |
|
|
of Black Personnel in Higher Education Day; and, be it further |
| |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
this exemplary association as an expression of esteem from the |
|
|
Texas Senate. |
