SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 377
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the CARES Foundation, Incorporated, on the occasion of |
|
|
its third annual Everyone CARES Gala, which is taking place March |
|
|
3, 2011, in Fort Worth; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This exceptional nonprofit organization was founded |
|
|
in 2001 to provide support for families affected by congenital |
|
|
adrenal hyperplasia, a genetic disorder of the adrenal gland; the |
|
|
ailment can result in impaired growth, infertility, adrenal crisis, |
|
|
and a significant decline in quality of life; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The foundation provides numerous programs at no |
|
|
charge to help families battling the disease, including physician |
|
|
referrals, educational conferences, support groups, infant |
|
|
screening campaigns, and a website containing many valuable |
|
|
resources; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since its inception, the foundation has granted |
|
|
hundreds of thousands of dollars to medical research; more than |
|
|
3,200 families and medical professionals have benefited from its |
|
|
programs and services; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The 2011 Everyone CARES Gala recognizes the |
|
|
contributions of several honorees who have had an important |
|
|
impact on the diagnosis and treatment of the disease; the |
|
|
Visionary Award is going to Dr. Bradford L. Therrell, Jr.; |
|
|
Dr. Richard J. Auchus is receiving the Pioneer Award; and the |
|
|
winner of the Corporate Sponsor Award is Virtuoso; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, It is truly fitting that this exemplary |
|
|
foundation and its supporters be recognized for their many |
|
|
important contributions to the medical community; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend the CARES Foundation, Incorporated, |
|
|
on its outstanding work in raising awareness of the dangers of |
|
|
congenital adrenal hyperplasia and extend best wishes for a |
|
|
successful Everyone CARES Gala; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the foundation as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
