SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 379

WHEREAS, Members of Leadership Plainview are visiting the State Capitol on April 4, 2011, to gain further insight into the workings of state government; and

WHEREAS, Established in 1984 by the Plainview Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Plainview is an exceptional initiative that provides opportunities for Plainview residents to increase their knowledge of vital public issues and infrastructure; sessions throughout the nine-month program are designed to acquaint participants with local concerns and to allow them to meet with the business and community leaders who represent the different interests of the area; and

WHEREAS, Open to people of all ages and walks of life, Leadership Plainview includes monthly meetings from September through May and covers such topics as business ethics, team building, and stress and time management; 2011 is the first year in the program's 27-year history that members are taking part in a trip to Austin; and

WHEREAS, Endeavoring to foster a more informed and involved citizenry and to develop new leaders in Plainview, the program is helping to build a brighter and more promising future for the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby recognize April 4, 2011, as Leadership Plainview Day at the State Capitol and extend to the members of the program sincere best wishes for continued success with their important work; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Leadership Plainview as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
