SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 383
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Jack Paul Leon
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of prominent San Antonio attorney Jack Paul
  Leon, who died February 9, 2011, at the age of 80; and
         WHEREAS, Jack Leon was born in Harlingen on October 17,
  1930; he proudly served his country in the United States Air
  Force during the Korean War; he was encouraged by his commanding
  officer to become a lawyer, and after his military service, he
  earned a law degree from Saint Mary's University; and
         WHEREAS, Jack retained close ties with Saint Mary's
  University; he served on the board of trustees, offered intern
  placements at his law firm, and often provided tours of the
  university for high school students who were interested in
  pursuing careers in law; and
         WHEREAS, He truly valued education; he always remembered
  the opportunities that education provided him and believed
  education was the utmost goal that every young person should
  have; he had a special place in his heart for students who wanted
  to practice law and would take time out of his busy career to
  introduce students to university life; and
         WHEREAS, A generous and benevolent gentleman, Jack Leon
  participated in many civic activities and had received numerous
  honors and awards over the years; the Living the Chaminade Legacy
  Award, presented to him last fall by Saint Mary's for his
  commitment to community service and academic excellence, best
  epitomized his character; and
         WHEREAS, A decent, humble, and honorable gentleman, Jack
  Leon was a highly esteemed lawyer who was admired and respected
  by his colleagues and all who knew him for his fairness and
  graciousness; he will be deeply missed; and
         WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and
  grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
  forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Jack Paul Leon: his wife, Rosemary; his son, Paul Leon;
  his stepchildren, Joe and Laura Amberson, Elaine and Richard
  Ellender, Lucy Gregg, Katie and Jim Westberry, Laurence and
  Sherrie Amberson, and Chris and Mary Margaret Amberson; and his
  12 grandchildren; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Jack Paul Leon.
