SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 385
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the CyberPatriot team from the Alamo Colleges
  Information Technology and Security Academy, which recently
  placed first in the open division of the regional CyberPatriot
  III competition hosted in San Antonio and known as the Mayor's
  Cyber Cup; and
 
         WHEREAS, CyberPatriot III is the premier high school
  cyberdefense competition in the nation; it was created to inspire
  high school students to take up careers in cybersecurity or in
  the disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and
  mathematics that are critical to our country's future; and
 
         WHEREAS, As the winner of the regional competition, this
  outstanding team has earned the right to compete at the national
  championships later this year; and
 
         WHEREAS, Team members Clint Sierra, Lawrence Roberts,
  Mario Puente III, Jose Ricardo Banda, and Robert Flores, Jr., can
  take great pride in the hard work and exemplary skills they
  demonstrated in securing this impressive victory; and
 
         WHEREAS, Clint Sierra is a junior at Warren High School,
  where he maintains a grade point average of 92.4 and is taking
  advanced placement courses; Lawrence Roberts is also a junior at
  Warren High School, who plays French horn in the band and pursues
  a long-standing interest in various computer applications; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mario Puente III is a junior at Brennan High
  School, who has also had an interest in computer technology for
  many years; Jose Ricardo Banda, captain of the CyberPatriot team,
  is a junior at Southwest High School and earned his A+
  Certification as a computer technician while only a sophomore;
  Robert Flores, Jr., is a junior at Judson High School, where he is
  ranked in the top one percent of his class and is a member of the
  Honor Society; and
 
         WHEREAS, These young students have recognized the importance
  of the growing field of cybersecurity and have taken the initiative
  to pursue this vital area of study; they are truly deserving of
  recognition for their commitment to furthering their education and
  serving the public good; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend the CyberPatriot team from the Alamo
  Colleges Information Technology and Security Academy on its
  victory at the regional CyberPatriot III competition and extend
  to its members best wishes for continued success in all their
  future endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
