WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Hebron High School Girls' Volleyball Team for
winning the University Interscholastic League Class 5A state
  championship title; and
WHEREAS, Hebron High School is located in Carrollton and is

game against The Woodlands, 25-23, 25-17, 27-25; Tiffany Baker
was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament; she is the most
  decorated volleyball player to ever attend Hebron High School;
  and
WHEREAS, This highly successful year is a tribute to the
girls' outstanding talents and to their team spirit; the team was
so dominant in the playoffs that no set was dropped on the way to
winning the title; the team is the first to accomplish such a
record since rally scoring was implemented in 2004; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the season, the players devoted many
hours to practicing the finer skills of the game and exercised
individual discipline and perseverance; the team is ranked
number one in the state and number four in the nation; in
addition, the Hawks were named to the Maxpreps Volleyball Tour of
Champions presented by the National Guard; and
WHEREAS, The Hawks dedicated their season to Scott
Cowgill, a committed Hebron volleyball booster who was battling
cancer; they incorporated his name into their motto, and every
huddle break ended with "Cowgill"; to their elation, after the
state tournament, Scott was declared cancer-free; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of head coach Karin
Keeney, and with the aid of the assistant coaches, the Hawks have
exhibited respect for the highest ideals of American

they have brought honor to themselves and to their school and
  community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
