SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 416
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Lois Shaw Jordan
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Lois Shaw Jordan of Kilgore, who died
  January 13, 2011, at the age of 73; and
         WHEREAS, She was born February 25, 1937, in Atlanta, Texas;
  she lived in Conroe and Talco, where she graduated from high
  school in 1955, before attending Saint Mary's College in
  Leavenworth, Kansas; she later earned a degree from Kilgore
  College in 1995; and
         WHEREAS, She was a devout Christian who lived a deeply
  spiritual life; she was an active and involved member of Christ
  the King Catholic Church for more than 50 years; and
         WHEREAS, Lois married Louie Jordan in 1957, and they had
  eight children; she treasured the relationships she had with her
  children, her 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and
  her many friends, co-workers, customers, and fellow church
  members; and
         WHEREAS, She and Louie bought the Blue Top Food Store in
  1976 and operated the proverbial "Mom and Pop" store over the
  next 15 years; she worked as an administrative assistant at
  Kilgore College from 1991 to 2009, when she retired; and
         WHEREAS, Lois will long be remembered for her kindness and
  her gracious spirit; she was a devoted wife, mother, and
  grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be
  treasured forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Lois Shaw Jordan
  and extend sincere condolences to her bereaved family; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Lois Shaw Jordan.
