SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 432
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Arthur George Patterson
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Arthur George "Pat" Patterson, who died
  February 28, 2011, at the age of 81; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Patterson was the last surviving member of the
  rescue team that responded to the deadly fire at the State
  Capitol on February 6, 1983; he served the state with great honor
  and distinction as a Capitol Security Police Officer from 1975 to
  1991 and as a member of the Texas Department of Public Safety; and
         WHEREAS, During the course of the fire, Mr. Patterson
  braved smoke and flames to help rescue fellow officer Joel
  Quintanilla, who had been injured while attempting to save people
  trapped by the blaze; his bravery and dedication to duty set an
  enduring example for all who aspire to serve the public good; and
         WHEREAS, Pat Patterson was born June 6, 1929, to Tommy and
  Edna Patterson; he was an exemplary citizen who was admired and
  respected in his community for his integrity and courage; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Patterson was a devoted husband, father, and
  grandfather and was beloved by his family and friends, who will
  long cherish the memories of his life and his many
  accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Arthur George Patterson: his children, George Patterson,
  Brenda Smith, Sandra Patterson, Karla Larson, and Cindy Patterson;
  his sister, Clara Young; and his 18 grandchildren, 35
  great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Arthur George "Pat" Patterson.
