SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 434
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Mike Smith, who has been named the chief investigator
  with the Collin County Criminal District Attorney's Office; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mike Smith began his law enforcement career in
  1980 as a deputy sheriff for the Smith County Sheriff's Office in
  Tyler; while working as a deputy sheriff, he attended Tyler
  Junior College, where he majored in criminal justice; and
 
         WHEREAS, He joined the Texas Department of Public Safety in
  1982 and was assigned to Collin County as a Texas Highway Patrol
  trooper; he worked as a trooper in the Highway Patrol Service and
  the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Service and as an
  investigator in the Regulatory Crimes Bureau; and
 
         WHEREAS, Over the last six years with the Texas Department
  of Public Safety, he performed administrative and criminal
  investigations in a six-county region in North Texas; and
 
         WHEREAS, He retired from the Texas Department of Public
  Safety after 29 years of exemplary service in order to accept the
  position as chief investigator with the Collin County Criminal
  District Attorney's Office; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Mike Smith for his exceptional
  career with the Texas Department of Public Safety and extend to
  him best wishes in his position as chief investigator for the
  Collin County Criminal District Attorney's Office; and, be it
  further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
