         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  welcome the citizens of Little Elm who are visiting Austin on the
  occasion of Little Elm Day at the State Capitol in 2011; and
         WHEREAS, Little Elm is situated along the picturesque
  northeast bank of Lake Lewisville, on land that was originally an
  empresario grant by the Republic of Texas in 1841 and became part

  settler C. C. "Kit" King, who later became postmaster of the
  first post office in Denton County; and
         WHEREAS, The town was incorporated in 1966 and has since
  experienced phenomenal expansion, growing from a small community
  of 363 residents in 1970 to today's population of more than
  22,000; the town continues to grow, and since 2002, more than
  1,000 residential building permits have been issued every year;
  and
         WHEREAS, The community retains an appealing small-town
  atmosphere due to the careful planning and foresight of town
  leaders, who have ensured that its growth is carefully managed
