SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 451
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Chauncy Ryan Mays
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Staff Sergeant Chauncy Ryan Mays, who
  died February 28, 2011, at the age of 25, while serving his
  country in Afghanistan; and
         WHEREAS, Chauncy Mays was born December 7, 1985; he was a
  2004 graduate of Chapel Hill High School in Titus County; a
  member of the 705th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company
  stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, he was serving in Afghanistan
  in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with the 63rd Explosive
  Ordnance Disposal Battalion, 20th Support Command, based at
  Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland; and
         WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Mays was a young man with a good
  heart and deep convictions whose unwavering resolve and selfless
  service embodied the highest ideals of the armed services; and
         WHEREAS, He was serving in a foreign country during a time
  of extreme danger when he made the ultimate sacrifice for his
  country; his service, his loyalty, and his sacrifice will not be
  forgotten; and
         WHEREAS, Chauncy Mays was a devoted husband, father, and
  son, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever
  by his family, his many friends, and all who were privileged to
  know this exemplary patriot; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Staff Sergeant
  Chauncy Ryan Mays and extend sincere condolences to his bereaved
  family: his wife, Kathryn; his daughters, Chesnee and Kiley; his
  father, Tommy Pierce Mays; and his mother, Allyson Dawn Rodgers;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Chauncy Ryan Mays.
