SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 470
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Texas Star Music Festival in Vidor; and
 
         WHEREAS, Vidor has been home to many prominent musicians
  through the years, including George Jones, Tracy Byrd, Clay
  Walker, Lou Smith, Billy Jo Spears, Lessie Lyle, and Don Rollins,
  leading the city to adopt as its slogan "Where the Music Began";
  and
 
         WHEREAS, To recognize these trailblazers and to encourage
  other local musicians to develop and display their talents, the
  Texas Star Music Festival was created in 2010; this outstanding
  event attracted more than 3,500 people and featured such
  well-known performers as Asleep at the Wheel and Georgette Jones,
  daughter of George Jones and Tammy Wynette; and
 
         WHEREAS, City leaders have initiated a Walk of Fame to pay
  tribute to Vidor's musical legacy, with granite stars bearing the
  names of honorees lining the sidewalk outside the new Vidor City
  Hall; and
 
         WHEREAS, This year's Texas Star Music Festival will feature
  a local talent contest in addition to an exceptional lineup of
  musical acts and other attractions; it is truly fitting that
  Vidor be recognized for its commitment to celebrating its rich
  musical heritage; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend the organizers of the Texas Star
  Music Festival and extend to them best wishes for a memorable
  event; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the festival as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
