SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 476
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join citizens across the state in recognizing May of 2011 as
  Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month; and
 
         WHEREAS, The safe operation of a motorcycle requires the
  use of special skills developed through a combination of
  training, expertise, the use of good judgment, and a thorough
  knowledge of traffic laws and licensing requirements; and
 
         WHEREAS, With the onset of warmer weather, the number of
  motorcycles on our streets and highways increases dramatically; and
 
         WHEREAS, Motorcyclists and motorcycle interest groups
  continue to demonstrate support for motorcycle safety programs
  offered for both beginning and advanced riders; and
 
         WHEREAS, During the month of May, motorcycle organizations
  nationwide will hold various events to promote Motorcycle Safety
  and Awareness Month with the intention of raising public
  awareness of motorcycling and motorcycle riders; and
 
         WHEREAS, This initiative is a commendable step toward
  creating a better understanding of the ways that Texas motorists
  can safely share the road with one another and will help reduce
  hazardous situations on our streets and highways throughout the
  year; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby recognize the month of May in 2011 as Motorcycle
  Safety and Awareness Month and urge all members of the motoring
  public to support this worthwhile event; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
  honor of Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month.
