Lewis Edward Cook III |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
|
commemorates the life of Lewis Edward Cook III, who died March 6, |
|
|
2011, at the age of 32; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Lewis Edward Cook III was born January 4, 1979, in |
|
|
San Francisco, California; he graduated from San Francisco's |
|
|
University High School, where he was a four-time All-American |
|
|
swimmer; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Cook graduated with honors in economics from |
|
|
Princeton University in 2001; following his graduation, he lived |
|
|
in Austin, where he established himself in the real estate |
|
|
community through his work with the John Lewis Company; he went |
|
|
on to continue his education at Duke University Business School, |
|
|
earning a master of business administration degree and |
|
|
recognition as a Duke Scholar; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He returned to Austin and the real estate |
|
|
industry, working at Simmons Vedder before establishing his own |
|
|
real estate investment company; he was active in the Real Estate |
|
|
Council of Austin, the Urban Land Institute, and the Young Men's |
|
|
Business League; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A young man of courage, strength, and compassion, |
|
|
he gave generously to others, and his unquenchable curiosity, his |
|
|
ease with people from all walks of life, and his enthusiasm for |
|
|
living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten by those who |
|
|
knew him; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He was devoted to his family and friends, and he |
|
|
will long be remembered with affection and admiration by all who |
|
|
were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family and friends of Lewis Edward Cook III; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Lewis Cook. |
