SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 484
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce on the occasion of its
  75th anniversary; and
         WHEREAS, Chartered in 1936, the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce
  has worked throughout its history to plan and achieve long-term
  goals and to develop and promote economic growth and quality of
  life for the community; and
         WHEREAS, The chamber played an important role in fostering
  the cooperation between the governments of the United States and
  Mexico that led to the creation of the Amistad Reservoir; its
  efforts were also instrumental in preventing the closure of
  Laughlin Air Force Base; and
         WHEREAS, The chamber's Industrial Committee has attracted
  numerous industrial prospects to the area and has helped to
  establish much of the region's industry, and the chamber's
  creation of the Del Rio Convention and Visitors Bureau has helped
  to showcase the city's many attractions and make the city a
  favorite tourist destination; and
         WHEREAS, The Del Rio Chamber of Commerce is truly deserving
  of recognition for its exemplary efforts in making the Del Rio
  community an exceptional place in which to live, work, and raise
  a family; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce on
  its many outstanding achievements and extend to its members and
  volunteers best wishes for a memorable 75th anniversary; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the chamber as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
