SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 487
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Max L. Noe
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Max L. Noe, who died
  February 15, 2011, at the age of 94; and
 
         WHEREAS, Born May 6, 1916, in Uvalde, Texas, Max Noe grew
  up in the lower Rio Grande Valley; he moved with his family to
  Austin in 1934 and graduated from Austin High School; and
 
         WHEREAS, Max had a 40-year career with the United States
  Postal Service and retired as Austin postmaster in 1976; he
  served his country as a member of the armed forces during World
  War II and was one of only three men in his company to survive the
  Battle of the Bulge; he was a prisoner of war in Germany and was
  liberated by Allied troops in April of 1945; he received the
  Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster for his distinguished service;
  and
 
         WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Max was active in numerous
  community and charitable organizations, including the Austin
  Chamber of Commerce, United Way, and the American Red Cross; he
  was president of the Downtown Founders Lions Club and volunteered
  as a docent at the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum, to
  which he donated his extensive political button collection; he
  was married to the late Caroline Krueger Noe for 44 years; and
 
         WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, he was highly patriotic
  and was respected in the community for his leadership and his
  many accomplishments; he was a devout Christian and a dedicated
  member of Saint Martin's Lutheran Church; and
 
         WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he
  gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth,
  and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him;
  and
 
         WHEREAS, Max Noe was beloved by his family and friends, and
  he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by all
  who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Max L. Noe: his wife, Pacita K. Noe; his son, Gary Noe;
  his stepson, Ben King; his sister, Gladys Douglas; and his two
  granddaughters; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Max L. Noe.
