SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 487

Max L. Noe |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Max L. Noe, who died |
|
February 15, 2011, at the age of 94; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born May 6, 1916, in Uvalde, Texas, Max Noe grew |
|
up in the lower Rio Grande Valley; he moved with his family to |
|
Austin in 1934 and graduated from Austin High School; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Max had a 40-year career with the United States |
|
Postal Service and retired as Austin postmaster in 1976; he |
|
served his country as a member of the armed forces during World |
|
War II and was one of only three men in his company to survive the |
|
Battle of the Bulge; he was a prisoner of war in Germany and was |
|
liberated by Allied troops in April of 1945; he received the |
|
Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster for his distinguished service; |
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Max was active in numerous |
|
community and charitable organizations, including the Austin |
|
Chamber of Commerce, United Way, and the American Red Cross; he |
|
was president of the Downtown Founders Lions Club and volunteered |
|
as a docent at the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum, to |
|
which he donated his extensive political button collection; he |
|
was married to the late Caroline Krueger Noe for 44 years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, he was highly patriotic |
|
and was respected in the community for his leadership and his |
|
many accomplishments; he was a devout Christian and a dedicated |
|
member of Saint Martin's Lutheran Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he |
|
gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth, |
|
and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; |
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Max Noe was beloved by his family and friends, and |
|
he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by all |
|
who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
family of Max L. Noe: his wife, Pacita K. Noe; his son, Gary Noe; |
|
his stepson, Ben King; his sister, Gladys Douglas; and his two |
|
granddaughters; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy |
|
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this |
|
day, it do so in memory of Max L. Noe. |
